The weather was fickle, but the sun finally made an appearance! Next... I will have many small and several larger paintings available at the Great Falls Studio Tour on October 15th and 16th at Pots and Plants on the Pike. I will also be painting (plein air perhaps)! Okay, enough with the "p"s!
This new 12" x 12" was donated to McLean Project for the Arts for the MPA Soirée. I am working on a several tree paintings which will be available at the McLean Artfest, October 2nd, in McLean Central Park!
Inspired by the sky after a storm at the beach . . . When the clouds are still present, but the sun begins to reclaim the sky.
I bought a few new paint colors recently, including cobalt blue. Cobalt mixed with Quinacridone magenta equals a bright shade of violet.
I experimented with flat shapes in this composition. Color shift and form are minimized so that the red versus blue combination is the main focus. There is still a hint of a landscape.
The weather is hot, but the paintings are cool and delicious! Come by Modern History Collection tonight!
One more week at the Great Falls Library "April Showers bring May Flowers" exhibition. Then this painting will be moving over to Modern History Collection.
